Police have recovered the throat slit body of an elderly woman named Masuda Begum, aged over 60, from the Foleshwar area of ​​Feni Municipality.

The body was recovered from the house of Golam Kibria Bakul, brother of former Feni Municipality councilor Golam Faruk Majumder, at around 9:30 pm on Thursday.

The deceased Masuda Begum is the wife of Sirajul Islam of Mostafa Bhuiyan Bari of Pithapashari area of ​​Dharmapur Union in Feni Sadar Upazila. She has a daughter and four sons. She was a housemaid at Commissioner Faruk’s house for the past 8 years.

Relatives of the deceased and local residents said that Masuda Begum was called on Monday to work at the house of Golam Kibria Bakul, brother of former Feni Municipality councilor Golam Faruk Majumder. On Thursday night, at around 8:45 pm, the family members started screaming when they saw the woman’s body lying under the sofa of Bakul’s house with her throat slit.

On receiving the news, members of the police, PBI, CID and other law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene. On Friday (December 27), at around 1:45 pm, the body was recovered and taken to the Feni 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy.

CCTV footage of the building shows that an unknown young man wearing black pants and a white checkered shirt entered the building at 9:13 pm. At 9:17 pm, the young man ran out of the building.

Golam Faruk Majumder, a former councilor of Ward No. 6 of Feni Municipality and owner of the house, said, “I was sitting at a tea shop half a kilometer away from my house. I received a message on my mobile phone from my house that thieves and robbers had entered. Upon receiving the news, I ran to the house and saw blood. The CCTV camera shows a young man entering the house and leaving again after a while.

The other owner of the house, Golam Haider Majumder Jhantu, said, “My wife informed me that there was an accident at home. Come quickly. I came quickly from the shop. In the meantime, the robber left. The CCTV camera showed that a boy entered the house through the gate and went upstairs. Within four minutes, he quickly got out of the house. In the meantime, he killed and fled. I want the murderer to be brought to justice through a fair investigation. I want the hanging of whoever killed him.”

Shahena Akhter, the daughter of the deceased, said, “I received a call at 9:30 pm saying that I could not find my mother. As soon as I left the house to look for my mother, my elder brother’s wife informed me who or what had slit my mother’s throat. I want justice for my mother’s killer.”

Kamal Uddin, the nephew of the deceased, said, “My aunt was slit her throat. I demand justice for this murder through a fair investigation.”

Feni Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Marm Singha Tripura said, “We immediately reached the spot after receiving the information and found the body in the front room of the second floor of the building. Later, PBI and CID reached the spot and started collecting various evidence and investigation. Work is underway to identify the unidentified youth in the CCTV footage. Appropriate legal action will be taken in this regard.”
