A motorcyclist named Ahmed Ali Sumon (22) was killed after being crushed by a tractor in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj. Another rider was injured during the incident.

The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway near Muraura Bridge in Nabiganj upazila at 1:30 pm on Wednesday (January 1). The deceased Sumon is the son of Chorab Ali of Chalitatla village in Bahubal upazila. The motorcyclist, Kamran Ahmed (21), son of Arju Mia of Hamidnagar village in Bahubal, who was injured in the leg, has returned home after receiving treatment at the hospital.

Assistant City Sub-Inspector (ATSI) of Sherpur Highway Police Station Waz Uddin said that Sumon and Kamran were going from Bahubal towards Sylhet on a motorcycle. After reaching Muraura Bridge, the motorcycle lost control and got in between a bus coming from the opposite direction and a tractor carrying electric poles. During this time, motorcycle rider Sumon fell and was crushed by the rear wheel of the tractor and died on the spot. Driver Kamran suffered minor injuries to his leg.

He further said that Sumon’s body, the tractor and the motorcycle that were involved in the accident have been taken into the custody of Sherpur Highway Police Station. Kamran has returned home after receiving treatment at a local hospital.
