6 Cocksit Hilsa were seized from the border of Padma River at Bagha in Rajshahi while being smuggled into India. On Monday evening Mushidpur of the upazila was seized by locals from the ghats of the Padma river. Later, when the Bagha police station was informed, the police recovered the fishes.
Police station SI Rased Mia said, after receiving information from the locals, 6 coccytes of hilsa were recovered from the scene. The smugglers were preparing to take these fish to India via Mushidpur Padma River. At that time, when the locals asked, the smugglers left the fish and escaped.
Bablu Hossain, seller of hilsa fish in Arani town market, said that there is 20 kg of fish in one cockatiel. So there were 3 fish in 6 coxsits. On Monday (August 19), one kilogram of hilsa fish was sold at Tk 1,500 to Tk 1,650.
In this regard, OC Abu Siddique said, the fishes were seized and brought to the police station. For what purpose the fishes were taken to Padma river gorge, efforts are being made to identify the main person.
