The Sadar Police Station has arrested a smuggler with 109 bags of Indian sugar and a truck from the cattle market in Habiganj city. SI Sirajul Moula has filed a case under the Special Powers Act as the plaintiff in this incident.
It is learned that on January 9, at around 1 am, based on a secret information, the OC of Sadar Police Station conducted a raid in the area and seized a truck with registration number (Dhaka Metro-T-24-6543). At that time, a member of the smuggler arrested Abul Bashar (47), son of Habibur Rahman of Nalduki village of Faridganj upazila of Chandpur district, currently a resident of Chirakandi Mohabbat Villa. At that time, his accomplice, truck driver Junaid Ahmed, son of the deceased Abu Taher of Alampur village of Sylhet upazila, escaped. Abul Bashar was sent to jail through the court on Thursday afternoon.
The OC said that the accused will be brought on remand and questioned to uncover the main mystery.
