A young man named Noman Ahmed (38) was stabbed to death in Baralekha, Moulvibazar. The deceased Noman was the general secretary of Sujanagar Union Jubo Dal. He is the son of Lechu Mia of Ranginagar village in Sujanagar Union.
The incident took place at Badda Bazar in the upazila on Saturday (January 18) at around 7:30 pm.
Abdus Shahid, UP member of Ward No. 1 of Sujanagar Union, said that Noman was standing at Badda Bazar around 7:30 pm. At that time, two youths suddenly came and stabbed Noman repeatedly in the chest and quickly fled. Later, Noman, a local, was rescued in a seriously injured condition and was first taken to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there saw his condition critical and sent him to Sylhet MAG Osmani Hospital. After reaching there, the doctor on duty declared him dead. However, it is not yet known why Noman was stabbed. As of Sunday, no one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
