Muhammad Shariful Islam Shehzad (35), accused in the attack on popular Indian hero Saif Ali Khan, is a resident of Rajabaria village in Mollarhat union of Nalchiti upazila of Jhalakathi. His father’s name is Md. Ruhul Amin Fakir.

After investigation, it was learned that his father Md. Ruhul Amin Fakir once worked at Khulna Mill. Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad is the second of three sons. However, he had no contact with his family for a long time.

According to police sources, Shehzad is an accused in several cases, including murder, at Nalchiti police station. He was hiding in the area after the murder case of motorcyclist Rafiqul Islam.

Shehzad’s younger brother Md. Salman Fakir said that his elder brother Shehzad fled to India after becoming an accused in the murder case of motorcyclist Rafiqul. He was arrested by the police several times while in the country. However, he does not know whether his family has any contact with him after he fled to India.

His neighbors Rahima Akhtar and Rintu Howlader said that his movements were erratic. He did not think about what would happen if he did anything. That is why he was arrested by the police many times. He married into a family at a very young age, but his marriage did not last long. As far as is known, he does not have any children. There are several charges against Shariful Islam Shehzad, including theft, robbery, and murder. He is not educated. He has been beaten up by a mob in the area several times for various reasons. It is also said that he has had several marriages without the knowledge of his family.

His father Ruhul Amin Fakir said, Shehzad has no contact with us. We have heard that he was arrested in India. We cannot say when he went to India.

Former chairman of Mollarhat Union Parishad Abdus Salam said that Shehzad was accused in the murder of Rafiqul Islam, a hired motorcycle driver, near Mollarhat Steel Bridge in Nalchit in 2017. After this incident, the boy went into hiding.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchit Police Station Md. Abdus Salam said that we have not received any message yet. However, there is a murder case against Shehzad in Nalchit Police Station and in Dhaka. The police have allegations that he is also involved in robbery.
