The annual sports competition and prize distribution of Jaintapur Government High School, a traditional school in Sylhet, has been held.
This day-long sports competition was held on Thursday (January 30).
The formalities of the sports competition began at 10 am by hoisting the national flag.
In his welcoming speech, the retired former headmaster of the institution, Md. Abul Hashem, declared the formal inauguration of the competition.
Later, a pleasant parade was displayed with the participation of school students, scouts, and girl guides. After the recitation of the Holy Quran and the reading of the Gita, the guests flew white pigeons and balloons, symbols of peace.
Sports competitions were held in various events with the participation of school students. After the competition, prize distribution and discussion meeting were held at 3 pm.
The discussion meeting was chaired by Shahana Zafrin Rozi, headmistress of Jaintapur Government High School, and conducted by Assistant Teacher Shafiqul Islam. Jaintapur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ms. Farzana Akhter Laboni was present as the chief guest.
Present as special guests were Upazila Secondary Academic Supervisor Azizul Haque Khokon, retired teacher Nurul Islam, retired government primary school teacher Sirajul Islam, former member of the school’s PTA committee Masuk Ahmed, and Abu Sufian Bilal, headmistress of Biam Dr. Kudrat Ullah School.
In addition, the assistant headmaster of the institution, Johar Kumar Singha, assistant teachers, Tofazzul Hossain, Anisur Rahman, Tapan Kanti Deb, Saiful Alam, Toha Mia, Rezaul Karim, Subrata Das Sindhu, Hossain Ahmed, Praban Kumar Das, Siddique Haider, Abdul Quader, Mamun Talukder, Sraboni Das Sweety, local media workers, school guardians and students participated in the discussion meeting. The guests distributed prizes among the winners of the annual sports competition and prize distribution – 2025.
