Culture Advisor Mostafa Sarwar Farooqui said, Bangla Academy is a research-oriented institution of art and literature. Therefore, this institution must focus on research first, that is true. And we know that Bangla Academy has already taken initiatives in this regard after we took charge.

Recently, Bangla Academy has invited proposals for 50 research articles and ten 1-year research scholarships. In addition, it has also taken measures to organize workshops and publish books for young writers. But even then, I would say that we need to do a little self-criticism or self-realization about what the new path should be before us.

Whatever the reason for the Bangla Academy, it is a job, like researching our past, and also being able to touch this present that is becoming the past in front of us, is an important job of the academy.

Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui also said, “What we have been able to feel after taking charge is that the communication of the Bangla Academy with those who inspire our new thoughts or new discourse or new language, in any form of art or in any branch of our culture, is a little limited, very little to say the least.”

We therefore felt that the Bangla Academy needed a comprehensive reform. We have taken that initiative. You will know in a few days that we will form a reform committee consisting of writers, researchers and our important thinkers. The work of the committee will be to turn the Bangla Academy into a running institution and to create a connection between new and old thoughts, as well as new thoughts.

If we can build this bridge, then we think that this academy will become a running institution and we have taken this as an important reform task for us.
