Allegations of harassment of two landless families in Srimangal

Srimangal (Moulvibazar) Correspondent //

False cases and harassment of two landless families by the wealthy and influential in Srimangal have been found.

Suruj Mia, son of the late Manu Mia of Uttar Baulachara village of Mirzapur union of the upazila, and his family members made such allegations at a press conference at the Srimangal Press Club on February 4.

In a written statement at the press conference, he said that his father was the owner and occupant of 21st century land in Jatrapasha mouza of Mirzapur union by purchase. For some reason, that 21st century land went into the government’s Khas record during the RS survey in 1988.

Later, they received a lease settlement for 99 years in the quota of landless people in the original of two sub-cobalt registration documents 2919/21 and 2925/21 from Sarkar Bahadur. They are occupying the land by building houses and growing crops on the 21st century land by claiming inheritance and settlement.
But Mira Das Gang, the wife of Mangal Lal Ravidas of the same union, filed a case in court against them and accused them of looting the crops. Mira Das is trying to evict them from their land by creating fake documents. Their opponents are very influential and wealthy. They are afraid for their lives.

Suruj Mia further said that on January 30, Mira Das held a press conference against them at the Moulvibazar Press Club by presenting false information. They protested against it for making defamatory statements. At that time, he further said that Mira Das said in that press conference that they are landless! In fact, they are not landless. Rather, they have immovable property worth about 15 to 20 crore taka in Mirzapur Bazar and its surroundings. Rather, he and his family members are landless. They said that they have no other property except that 21st century land.

When contacted on Mira Das’ mobile phone in this regard, the phone was not received. Mirzapur Union Chairman Mislu Chowdhury said that Suruj Mia Gangder Sarkar Bahadur leased the land as landless, but Mira Das filed a case in court over the land claiming ownership. I have advised both parties to take legal action in court to resolve the matter.

In this regard, Srimangal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminul Islam said that if a complaint is received, legal action will be taken after investigating the matter.
