With the slogan ‘Sports are power, sports are power’, the annual sports competition and prize distribution ceremony of the traditional Sarighat High School in Jaintapur Upazila of Sylhet was held with the promise of creating enlightened people.

On Thursday (February 6) afternoon, the event was jointly conducted by Sarighat High School Assistant Teachers Faiz Ahmed and Muhibur Rahman in the school premises, with Jaintapur Upazila Executive Officer George Mitra Chakma in the chair, and former Chairman of Jaintapur Upazila Parishad Alhaj Joynal Abedin was present as the chief guest.

Jalal Uddin, Biam Qudrat Ullah School and College Principal Abu Sufian Belal, Brigadier Majumder High School Acting Headmaster Milan Kanti, Jaintapur Tayyab Ali Technical College Instructor Engineer Monir Uddin, Jaintapur Online Press Club President Mainul Mursalin Ruhel, Jaintapur Press Club President, Jaintapur Online Press Club Member Md. Tofail Ahmed, Md. Abdullah, Murad Hasan, Saj Uddin Saju, social and political leaders of various levels of the area, students of this school, and guardians.

The chief guest and special guests and a large number of spectators including college teachers, invited guardians, local dignitaries enjoyed the charming parade, torches and displays of the students at the event.

Students participated in more than 15 sports and other subjects in this sports competition. The program was especially enjoyable through ‘Dress as you like and social jokes, displays’.

The first, second and third place winners of the annual sports competition were awarded. The chief guest and special guests distributed prizes among the winners.

At this time, the chief guest and special guests delivered various directional speeches to the students. The students said that like other years, this sports competition was celebrated with great enthusiasm. It has been able to add a new dimension to the glorious history of the college.

The school ground was beautifully decorated. Along with sports, various entertainment programs added a different dimension to the enjoyment of the audience.
