Taslima Nasrin is a widely discussed and criticized writer on political unrest and social issues in Bangladesh. Currently, she is writing extensively on ‘Badaler Bangladesh’. This time, popular actress Ajmeri Haque Badhon has come to the center of her discussion.
Badhon played an active role in the anti-Sheikh Hasina movement in Bangladesh in August last year. She joined the student movement on the streets and demanded reforms in the country. She was heard shouting into the microphone several times, “This country is mine, we will reform this country.” She was even seen guarding Dhaka at night with her hands tied in a knot in a heated situation. Badhon’s role, known as a brave and outspoken person, was widely appreciated at the time.
However, in the current political turmoil, Taslima Nasrin has raised questions about the role of Ajmeri Haque Badhon in the midst of the current political unrest. She posted a video of Bandhan during the student movement and wrote, “This woman who said she would reform the country, what reforms has she done so far?”
Taslima’s comment has caused a huge reaction on social media. Many have commented sarcastically on Bandhan, while some have even mocked her as a ‘new moon moon’.
