After the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government in the popular uprising of the students, there is an unstable situation surrounding the resignation and removal of the heads of various educational institutions of the country. The students have committed such incidents following various complaints against the officials. Somewhere teachers have been harassed. The Ministry of Education feels that this is not desirable at all.
In view of such incidents in educational institutions, a letter has been given to all the district commissioners of the country from the secondary and higher education department of the ministry. The ministry has given some instructions to the district administrators.
The letter was issued on Tuesday (August 27). The letter was signed by Saifur Rahman Khan, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry’s Secondary and Higher Education Department, Administration and Establishment Wing.
According to the letter, the VC, Pro-VC or other officers at the university level can voluntarily resign. If necessary, the President and Chancellor can remove them according to law. Heads of institutions like government schools and colleges or others may take other measures applicable to government employees through investigation including transfer if necessary. In case of private educational institutions also the school managing committee or governing body can take action. Maushi has scope to take action as per rules. In this case, if a specific complaint is sent about that teacher or official, the concerned department or office will take appropriate measures subject to investigation or inquiry.
It also mentions that the public administration of Bangladesh has always played an important role in improving the educational management and environment of the school. In the existing situation, it is requested by the District Administrators to keep in touch with the teachers-students, parents and representatives of the concerned stakeholders of the educational institutions to supervise the maintenance of the overall fair environment and inform the secondary and higher education department if necessary.
Earlier, Education Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud held a meeting with the officials of the Ministry of Education on August 25. There he said that action will be taken if there is a just complaint against any of those who are serving in various positions in the educational institution.
