UK expatriate’s house attacked and vandalized in Jaintapur

A complaint has been received about an attack and vandalism on the house of UK expatriate and police station Jubo League leader Tofail Ahmed in Fatepur Union No. 5 of Jaintapur Upazila of Sylhet.

The incident took place at around 11 am (May 7) at the residence of expatriate Tofail Ahmed in Paschim Balipara village. His family members failed to identify the masked miscreants.

According to family sources, UK expatriate Jubo League leader Tofail Ahmed participated in various Awami Party political meetings in the UK. To avenge this, a group of miscreants attacked his ancestral house on May 7 and vandalized his house. This caused damage worth lakhs of taka. While the miscreants were leaving, they threatened his father, Upazila Awami League Vice President Haji Shamsuddin, and told him not to participate in any political party meetings. In such a situation, his family is currently suffering from extreme insecurity.

When Shamsuddin, the victim, was spoken to on the phone, he admitted the truth of the incident and said, “My son is an expatriate in the UK. He has participated in various Awami Party meetings in the UK. He has also circulated some pictures of that meeting on the social media Facebook. To cover up the aftermath, 8/10 alleged terrorists attacked the house. He strongly condemned it.

When the officer-in-charge of Jaintapur Model Police Station was contacted on his official mobile phone to inquire about this, no statement was received as his mobile phone was not receiving.
