A central Swechchhasebak League leader and his aide have been arrested by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) while fleeing to India via Tamabil border in Sylhet. They were arrested on Thursday evening for illegally entering India at Pillar No. 1277 area on the Sylhet Tamabil border. They were handed over to the BGB through a flag meeting at the Tamabil border around 12:30 pm on Saturday (July 12).

The arrested are Mokhlesur Rahman Suman (40), son of Haji Irfan Uddin Matubbar of Bhanga Tarail Ishwardi village in Faridpur, and his aide Abul Kalam. Suman is said to be the deputy social welfare secretary of the central Swechchhasebak League.

48 BGB commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nazmul Haque said that on July 10, the BSF arrested two Bangladeshis for illegally entering India through the Tamabil border. On Saturday afternoon, the BSF handed over the two to the BGB through a flag meeting. Later, the BGB handed over the two to the Gowainghat police station.

According to police sources, several cases have been filed against him after the fall of the Awami League government. Inspector (Investigation) of Gowainghat police station SM Kabir Hossain said that the two people arrested by the BSF while trying to flee to India have been handed over to the police station. The arrested Mokhlesur Rahman Sumon is the former vice-president of the central committee of the Chhatra League and currently the deputy social welfare secretary of the central committee of the Swechchhasebak League. There are several cases against him at the Bhanga police station. After the legal proceedings, both of them will be sent to jail through the court on Sunday.
