A youth named Lyon (28) has been accused of seriously injuring a policeman by slashing him during a motorcycle search in Haluaghat, Mymensingh. The incident took place at around 3:30 am on Thursday in the Pagalpara Bazar area of ​​the municipal area. Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the matter.

Accused Lyon is the son of Haluaghat Upazila Volunteer Party convener Md. Ruhul Amin. After the incident, Lyon fled from there. Ruhul Amin has been called to the police station for questioning in this regard.

The Additional Superintendent of Police said that at the time of the incident, the duty officer and the force (Romeo-11) were regularly checking motorcycles in the Haluaghat municipal area. At this time, when Lyon tried to stop and search him, he targeted the on-duty constable Ijaul Haque Bhuiyan (Ijaz) and hit him from behind with a sharp blade. The policeman was seriously injured.

The injured constable Ijaul Haque was immediately taken to the Haluaghat Upazila Health Complex. After receiving primary treatment there, his condition deteriorated and he was sent to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) for advanced treatment.

Regarding the matter, BNP Joint Secretary General and Mymensingh-1 (Haluaghat Dhobura) Paddy Sheesh candidate Syed Emran Saleh Prince told the media that the youth society in the area has deteriorated drastically due to drugs and unemployment. It would not be right to blame the father for the wrongdoing of his son. However, I will request the police to bring the culprit, whether he is from the BNP family or whoever he is, to the maximum punishment.
