BNP nominated MP candidate Iliaspatni Tahsina Rushdir Luna, who is carrying a rice sheaf in Sylhet-2 (Biswanath-Osmaninagar) constituency, said, “Keeping in mind the development of public leader M. Ilias Ali and his torture, vote for rice sheaf in the 13th National Parliament election to be held on February 12. If rice sheaf wins with your vote, it will be the people’s victory. She said these things as the chief guest at a road meeting held at the Probashi Chattar in the Notun Bazar area of the municipal city after the first campaign procession in support of the ‘rice sheaf’ symbol after the symbol was presented at Biswanath in Sylhet on Saturday (January 24) afternoon.
The campaign procession started from the Saman of Dak Bangla in Soj held before the road meeting and circled the main roads of the municipality. Before this, since the morning, separate processions had come from different unions of the upazila on the initiative of BNP and its affiliated organizations and gathered at the Saman of Dak Bangla in Soj.
The two sons of the ‘Ilias-Luna’ couple, ‘Barrister Abrar Ilias Arnab and Labib Sharar’, were with their mother, holding symbolic sheaves of rice in their hands, seeking votes under the symbol of sheaves of rice. At that time, their only daughter, Sayara Nawal, was in an open-top car with her mother. At the forefront of the campaign procession for sheaves of rice was the younger brother of missing BNP leader M Ilias Ali and Sylhet District BNP Vice President M Askir Ali.
Leaders and activists of various levels of Upazila-Municipal BNP and affiliated organizations, expatriate BNP leaders and people from different classes and professions were present at the rice sheaf campaign procession and road meeting held under the leadership of Bishwanath Upazila BNP Acting President Gaus Ali and General Secretary Lilu Mia.
