In a message sent to Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un expressed his desire to further strengthen relations with Russia.

North Korean state media reported that Kim made these remarks in response to a congratulatory message sent by Putin on the occasion of the country’s 78th founding anniversary, according to Al Arabiya.

In the letter, Kim noted Pyongyang’s firm resolve to advance ties with Moscow based on the friendship and mutual cooperation shared by the two nations. He also expressed confidence that Russia would triumph in its struggle to safeguard national security and uphold international justice.

This statement effectively signals support for Russia’s war against Ukraine. The North Korean leader also conveyed his full support for Putin and the Russian people.

Notably, Russia and North Korea have drawn significantly closer in recent times. As part of this deepening relationship, the two countries have expanded military cooperation in 2024, and North Korea has sent troops to Russia to fight in the conflict against Ukraine.

Earlier, on September 9—North Korea’s founding anniversary—Chinese President Xi Jinping had also sent a congratulatory message alongside Putin. In response, Kim Jong Un had conveyed a message to the Chinese President emphasizing the need to work together while upholding their historic friendship.
