A housewife named Rahima Akhter (Remy) committed suicide by posting a video on Facebook in Rajshahi.
The incident took place on Tuesday (June 18) in the early hours of the night. The deceased housewife is the daughter of Abdur Rahim of Nimtala Mandal Para village of Rajshahi Puthia Upazila and the wife of Saim Akter Sagar of Kathalbaria area of the same upazila.
Due to Sagar’s job, they live on the 2nd floor rented by her husband from Ali Azam, a house owner, at Fakir Malletari junction near Charghat Bazar in Rajshahi district. There, they twisted the curtain against the balcony of their bedroom and hung them around their necks.
Earlier, Remy, who was killed, came on Facebook Live and highlighted their family feud. In this incident, Abdur Rahim, the father of the deceased filed a case as a plaintiff in Charghat police station. Later, the body was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. The incident cast a shadow of mourning on the Nimtala area of Puthiya.
The deceased Remy said in the video posted by him, I started writing a book. I wanted to name the book Suicide. I committed suicide before finishing the book.
I’m tired of hearing bad things about parents. If it wasn’t bad, no one would listen. My father is responsible for my death. I want to prove it with my life. If the parents are bad, but the children are not bad. That’s what Remy was saying in his video.
Remi’s father said, yesterday, June 17, my daughter and son-in-law came to my house and had dinner on Eid day and then returned home after noon. My daughter then I heard that there was a family dispute at my daughter’s in-laws house. Later my son-in-law and daughter moved to Charghat rented house. In the early hours of June 18, my son-in-law called my son and gave the news.
When contacted to know about this, the officer in charge (OC) of Charghat police station ASM Siddiqur Rahman said, such an incident has taken place, we have recovered the body and sent it for postmortem. I can give you more details when I get the autopsy report.
