Youth arrested with 19 lakh Indian currency at Doarabazar border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a young man with Indian currency worth Tk 19.5 lakh at Doarabazar border in Sunamganj. The arrested youth is Hriday Mia (25), son of Suruj Alam of Bhawalipara village of Banglabazar union of the upazila.

It is reported that on Thursday (September 12) evening under the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB), the patrol under the leadership of Company Commander Subedar Abul Basar Azad of Banglabazar BOP conducted an operation in South Kalaura village, 50 yards from Main Pillar 1235/4 S of the border. At that time, the heart was seized along with the currency.

Lieutenant Colonel Hafizur Rahman, commander of Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB), said that according to the instructions of the interim government of Bangladesh, BGB’s offensive activities and intelligence activities are continuing to protect border security and prevent smuggling. A case will be registered against the detained youth along with Indian rupees and he will be handed over to the police station.
