Moulvibazar (Srimangal) Representative //
Jalalabad Gas Company has disconnected the gas line due to the crime of stealing gas by tampering the meter at Srimangal Kalapur Marigold CNG pump in Moulvibazar.
Although the gas connection was disconnected on Sunday (22 September), this news was kept secret. When inquired about this matter, Jalalabad Gas Company officials admitted the matter. Last August, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Jalalabad Gas Company had written complaints against the two CNG pumps in the upazila from the consumer level. But since the concerned authorities have not taken any initiative in this regard since many years, the pump owners were getting away with it. Recently, after the fall of the Awami League government, when the labor union and the former mayor of the municipality, BNP leader Mohsin Mia Madhu spoke out, the concerned authorities were shocked. As a result, if gas theft is proved by tampering the meter against that pump, the gas connection of that pump is severed.
In this regard, Sylhet Jalalabad Gas Company’s Moulvibazar District DGM Masud Rana told Morningsun that Srimangal Kalapur Marigold CNG pump meter tampering has been confirmed. When asked how much gas was stolen, he said, the calculation is going on, he also said that punitive action will be taken against the pump as per the gazette.
In this regard, Zainul Uddin, the owner of Marigold CNG Pump, denied the charge of meter tampering and said that the meter of their pump was damaged and he applied for a new meter.
