A woman was killed after being hit by a private car on the Sylhet-Jakiganj road. The incident took place on Saturday (September 28) in the area adjacent to MC Academy of Golapganj Upazila around 11 pm.
The deceased woman is Rafia Begum (58), wife of Majir Uddin of Charia village of Bianibazar upazila.
It is known that Rofia Begum was going to cross the road from her elder daughter’s house to go to the house of her younger daughter Helen Begum when a speeding private car hit her and fell into a ditch. When he was seriously injured, the locals rescued him and took him to a private hospital, where the doctor in charge declared him dead.
