The police arrested three people along with an Indian sugar truck during a raid on Sylhet’s airport road.
On the morning of Wednesday (October 9), the airport police arrested the three smugglers along with a truck loaded with sugar from in front of Sylhet Cadet College on the Ambarkhana-Bimanbandar road.
The arrested are Rubel Mia (25) son of Lilu Mia of Teknagul village in Goainghat upazila of Sylhet, Hriday Ahmed (21) son of Shahjahan and Saju Ravi Das (22) son of Ilon Ravi Das of Kasba village in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj.
Mohammad Saiful Islam of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) confirmed the truth of this matter. He said 109 sacks (5232 kg) of Indian sugar were seized from inside the truck during the operation. A case under the Special Powers Act has been registered against the arrested accused at the Airport Police Station.
