Jewel Chowdhury, district representative Habiganj, came back from Shaistaganj //
A construction worker named Mahmud Mia (50) was cut while getting off the train in Shaistaganj. He died on the way to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital from Habiganj on Wednesday evening.
Mahmud Mia is the son of deceased Yusuf Mia of Chanpara village of Baniachong upazila.
It is known that the Paharika train from Chittagong to Sylhet was slowly leaving Shaestaganj Junction on Wednesday afternoon. At that time, when Mahmud Mia got down, one of his legs fell under the wheels of the train and was separated from his body. Later, the locals first took him to Habiganj 250-bed District Sadar Hospital as he was injured. He died on the way to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital from there in the evening.
Badshah Alam Pramanik, officer-in-charge of Shaistaganj railway police outpost, told The Daily Morning Sun that Mahmud Mia was going to Comilla to work as a construction worker. But he forgot and got on the train to Sylhet. After knowing the matter, he got down in a hurry and met with an accident.
