A large quantity of sand and stone seized in Jaintapur

A large quantity of sand and stones have been seized in Sylhet’s Jaintapur. On Wednesday (October 16) at around 11 am, this huge amount of sand and stone was seized in a raid led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jaintapur Magistrate Farzana Akhtar Labni. Assistant Director of Department of Environment along with members of Police, BGB, Army were present.

According to local and upazila administration sources, seven thousand cubic feet of sand was collected from Pakhi Bill near Sari Nadi Balu Mahal on Wednesday morning, three thousand cubic feet from Kamrangikhel south, five thousand cubic feet from school ghat, fifteen thousand cubic feet from Bangla Bazar No. 4 near Rangpani river. More than twelve thousand cubic feet of sand and stone were seized. Later, the seized sand and stones were kept in the custody of the concerned UP chairman, members, truck-sand, stone workers union president.

Jaintapur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Umme Salik Rumaiya confirmed the truth of this matter to The Daily Morning Sun. He said, the campaign against illegal sand and stone extraction will continue.
