A non-profit organization called “Lemon Fresh Meat”, founded by social worker Md. Selim Mia, owner of Lemon Garden in Srimangal, has started distributing eggs and chickens at no profit in the market to break the syndicate.
On Sunday (October 3), former mayor of Srimangal Municipality and former upazila BNP president Md. Mohsin Mia Madhu inaugurated the sale of eggs and chickens at no profit at the ‘Lemon Fresh Meat’ shop in Notunbazar of Srimangal town. Executive Director of Lemon Group Md. Shaheen Sultan said that ‘Lemon Fresh Meat’ is an organization of Lemon Group.
At the request of the recently former mayor of Srimangal Municipality, Mohsin Mia, this initiative has been taken to break the syndicate in order to keep the market stable. Former general secretary of upazila BNP Md. Yakub Ali said that this initiative will continue until the rooster and egg market is brought under control. During the inauguration of the shop, former Upazila BNP President Md. Mohsin Mia Madhu said, “My younger brother’s farm is marketing millions of roosters every month. After investigating, I found that some unscrupulous traders are selling daily commodities in the market by forming syndicates and making extra profits. Then I decided to break the syndicate. He further said that within 2-1 days, all winter vegetables including rice, pulses, oil, salt, onions, garlic, potatoes will be purchased at wholesale prices and sold to the common people without any profit. Mohsin Mia Madhu said that the prices of commodities cannot be controlled due to the manipulation of various syndicates formed during the dictatorship. All these syndicates are creating artificial crises and making people’s lives unbearable. This syndicate must be broken at any cost.
Former General Secretary of Upazila BNP Md. Yakub Ali, former municipal councilor and BNP leader Kazi Abdul Karim, Mir MA Salam, Alkas Mia, Abdul Jabbar Azad, BNP leader Nazrul Islam, Joint Secretary of Srimangal Businessmen Association Akhter Hossain, among others, were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
