Sylhet Metropolitan Police (DB) have seized 6 trucks of Indian sugar in a drive. The market value of the seized 33,810 kg of sugar is Tk 41,17,200. In addition, Indian cumin worth Tk 60,000 was recovered during the drive. During this time, 6 trucks were seized and one person was arrested.
This consignment of Indian goods was seized by setting up a check post in the Chowkidekhi area at 4:30 am on Wednesday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Mohammad Saiful Islam confirmed the authenticity of this.
The arrested person is Mohammad Hasan (19), son of Mohammad Jamir Hossain of Nagadipur village of Dirai upazila of Sunamganj district.
690 bags of Indian sugar and 60 kg of cumin were seized from 6 trucks. Mohammad Saiful Islam said that a case has been filed with the Airport Police Station against the arrested and absconding accused.
