The police have recovered the body of a girl hanging in Jaintapur, Sylhet.
The deceased girl has been identified as Anjuman Akhter Sathi (13). She is the daughter of Md. Alim Uddin, an Italian expatriate from Asampara village in the upazila. The deceased Sathi was a student of the eighth grade of Rangpani Captain Rashid School.
According to the family sources of the deceased, on Thursday morning, November 7, Sathi’s mother Firoza Begum went to a nearby relative’s house after abusing her daughter Sathi for not going to school. Later, at 11 am, Firoza Begum returned home and found the door of Sathi’s room locked from inside and there was no response.
Later, she broke down the door with Sathi’s brother Ariful Islam, a madrasa student, and found Sathi hanging inside the room. In this situation, the hanging companion was quickly taken to the Jaintapur Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Upon receiving the news of the incident, a team from the Jaintapur Model Police Station arrived at the hospital at 12 noon and prepared a post-mortem report on the deceased.
Inspector (Investigation) of the Jaintapur Model Police Station, Jahirul Islam Munna, said that a post-mortem report was prepared on the deceased. Initially, it is believed that he may have committed suicide. The mystery of the death can be confirmed after further investigation.
