Bus-motorcycle head-on collision on Sylhet-Tamabil highway: 1 dead

A biker died in a collision between a gatelock seating service passenger bus and a motorcycle on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway.

The tragic accident occurred in front of the Sylhet Gas Field Limited No. 10 gas well in the area adjacent to Bagher Road on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway at around 7:30 pm on Wednesday (November 13).

The deceased is Sadiqur Rahman (42), son of the late Haji Ramzan Ali of Thakurer Mathi village of Chiknagul union of Jaintapur upazila, an officer of Bangladesh Krishi Bank Kanaighat branch.

It is learned that on Wednesday evening, Bangladesh Krishi Bank Kanaighat branch officer Sadiqur Rahman was leaving for his home in Chiknagul on his own motorcycle (Sylhet-H-15-0054) when he came in front of gas well no. 10 and collided head-on with a speeding Panna Enterprise Gatelock Seating Service passenger bus (Sylhet Metre-B-11-0003) heading towards Jaflong. At that time, Sadiqur, the motorcycle rider, died on the spot.
It is learned that another unidentified person was seriously injured along with Sadiqur Rahman on the motorcycle. Later, locals rescued him in a seriously injured condition and sent him to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Meanwhile, the police team of Tamabil Highway Police Station Sylhet Region reached the spot after receiving the news of the accident. Highway Police In-charge Mohammad Yunus Ali confirmed the accident.
