Not only the Minister-MP or the influential, but the top leaders of various organizations including Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League have also gone into hiding out of fear. Awami League party influential businessmen are also in this list.

It has been reported that some of Sylhet’s ministers and MPs have left the country and migrated to London, America. No one could be reached by calling the phone. Mobile number found to be closed. There is no one at home. It is believed that most of their leaders and activists have migrated to the neighboring country of India. Or fled to different countries using Indian ports. After receiving the news that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country, there were attacks, looting and arson at the homes of many Awami League MPs and activists in Sylhet.

On this day, a group of youths vandalized and set fire to the residence of Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, former State Minister for Expatriates and Foreign Employment and President of Sylhet District Awami League, in Shapla Bagh area of ​​the city after the joyous procession of the people. Azadur Rahman Azad, Councilor of Sylhet City Corporation and Metropolitan Awami League Organizing Secretary in neighboring East Shaplabag area, Awami League Member of Parliament (MP) Ranjit Chandra Sarkar of Sunamganj-1 Constituency located in Gopaltila area, Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League President Masuk Uddin Ahmad, Vice President Asad Uddin and District Awami League General Secretary Nasir Uddin Khan’s house was attacked and vandalized.

A group of miscreants attacked, vandalized and looted the house of Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, joint general secretary of UK Awami League and Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation, the leader of the illegal sugar scandal, identified as the keeper of the illegal money of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana. During this time, his family members were injured. Even though Awami League leaders and activists are in the country, they have covered up for fear of public anger.

It has been reported that most of the leaders and activists of Awami League have left the country at various times starting from August 5, the day the government resigned.
