Border Guard Bangladesh Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) raids at various BOPs in Sylhet and Sunamganj districts and seized Indian smuggled goods worth Tk 89 lakh.
A press release of 48 BGB said on Sunday (December 22), based on secret information, the BGB conducted a drive in the border areas of Sylhet and Sunamganj districts under the responsibility of Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB), Banglabazar, Lafarge, Sonalichela, Noakot, Sonarhat, Bichnakandi, Sangram, Panthumai, Minatila, Pratappur, DB Haor and Tamabil BOP and seized a large quantity of Indian sunglasses, chocolate, cows, buffaloes, beef, sugar, oranges, various types of cream, olive oil, fuchka, garlic, horn fish and easy bikes used for smuggling from Bangladesh. The estimated market value of these is 88 lakh 99 thousand 370 taka.
In this regard, the commander of Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB), Lieutenant Colonel Md. Hafizur Rahman (PSC) said, as per the instructions of the higher headquarters, the BGB’s operational activities and intelligence activities to maintain security at the border and prevent smuggling are continuing in full swing. In continuation of this, operations were conducted in the border areas and smuggled goods were seized. Necessary action will be taken as per the rules regarding the seized smuggled goods.
