Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Deputy Commissioner Controversial Police Officer Azbahar Ali Sheikh (PPM) has finally been removed from Sylhet. He has been attached as Supernumerary Additional DIG in Rajshahi Range DIG office.

Azbahar Ali was the leader of the Marmukhi police force in Sylhet student movement. During all the encounters, he was seen ordering his police subordinates to fire. On August 2 (Friday), he called the protesting student-crowd in front of Mount Edora Hospital in Akhalia, Sylhet and said – ‘If you are the father’s son, come forward’. The video footage of this scene is now viral on Facebook.
Meanwhile, Habiganj District Police Superintendent of Sylhet Division has also been transferred. Habiganj SP Akhtar Hossain has been attached to Rangpur DIG range office.

It is known that on Wednesday (August 21), Deputy Secretary of Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. In a notification signed by Mahabur Rahman Sheikh, 12 Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and 11 officers including Superintendents of Police of 10 districts including Kishoreganj, Manikganj, Bagerhat, Magura, Natore, Sirajganj, Gaibandha, Habiganj and Patuakhali have been transferred.
