The BGB destroyed Indian cigarettes and bidis worth around 1.5 crore taka seized by the Srimangal Battalion (46 BGB) in Moulvibazar by burning them.
They were destroyed at the headquarters of 46 BGB in Srimangal on Thursday afternoon.
Srimangal Battalion (46 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. ASM Zakaria, Sylhet Customs Deputy Commissioner, Prabhat Kumar Singha, Assistant Commissioner and learned Executive Magistrate, Moulvibazar Md. Sohag Milu, 46 BGB Acting Quartermaster, Assistant Director Mohammad Jamal Hossain and Srimangal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam were present at the time.
46 BGB Acting Quarter Master, Assistant Director Mohammad Jamal Hossain said that 68,41,035 Indian Nasir leaf bidis and 33,600 Indian cigarettes were seized from 21 August 2022 to 09 December 2024.
The value of the seized Indian Nasir leaf bidis is 1,35,61,370/- Taka and the value of the cigarettes is 2,96,500/- Taka, with a total value of bidis and cigarettes worth 1,38,57,870/- (one crore eight hundred and thirty-seven lakh fifty-seven thousand eight hundred and seventy) Taka, which were destroyed in a fire on Thursday.
