A crow-injured owl has been saved from an attack by a group of crows in Srimangal, Moulvibazar.
On Wednesday (January 29), a group of crows attacked a crow sitting on a tree at the Dewanbari Mosque on College Road in the city. The crows knocked the owl down and injured it. The injured owl fell from the tree to the ground.
An old Muslim named Nazrul Islam was passing by that road after prayers. He saw the injured owl and picked it up from the ground and brought it to a nearby shop.
From there, a man named Junaid informed the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation in Srimangal. On receiving the information, Swapan Dev Sajal, director of the Wildlife Service Foundation, and environmental activist Rajdeep Dev rescued the injured owl and brought it to the Wildlife Service Foundation.
Swapan Dev Sajal, director of the Wildlife Service Foundation, said that the scientific name of this owl, which is distinguished by its long wings, pale and heart-shaped face and square tail, is Toyot alba. This animal is a type of owl. It is a nocturnal animal.
The rescued owl was handed over to the Srimanganth Forest Department authorities.
