Allegations of land grabbing in Srimangal by ignoring court ban

Srimangal (Moulvibazar) Correspondent //

Mira Ravidas, wife of Mangal Ravidas of Mirzapur Union of the upazila, held a press conference to protest against the attempt to grab land in Srimangal, Moulvibazar, by ignoring the court ban.

In a written statement after organizing a press conference at the Moulvibazar Press Club on Thursday (January 30) afternoon, Mira Ravidas said, “Attempts are being made to grab our ancestral land by ignoring the temporary ban of the Moulvibazar Assistant Judge Court of Srimangal.”

She said that Suruj Mia Gong, son of the deceased Manu Mia of Uttar Boulachara village of Mirzapur Union No. 1 of Srimangal Police Station, is trying to build a house by ignoring the temporary ban of the Moulvibazar Assistant Judge Court of Srimangal.

Mira Das said, “We have no place to lay our heads.” My father-in-law Ram Tarua Ruhi Das in 2001 purchased the land JL No. 11, SA Khatian No. 568, RS DP Khatian No. 277, SA Dag No. 30, RS Dag No. 41, . 21st century land from Md. Makhlisur Rahman and became the owner of the land. With much difficulty, he purchased the 13th century land to build a house for us. But due to poverty and hardship, he could not build a house. We also prepared to build a house by planting a few bamboo poles, but could not do it due to lack of money.

After the death of Ram Tarua Ruhi Das, his two sons Mohan Lal Rabi Das and Mangal Lal Rabi Das became the owners by inheritance. Later, after the death of Mohan Lal Rabi Das, his wife Lakshmi Rani and her four sons Santu Lal Rabi Das, Manju Lal Rabi Das, Sanju Lal Rabi Das, Ranju Lal Rabi Das became the owners.

Recently, Suruj Mia Gong, a resident of Mirzapur, Kashipur village, built a house on our bamboo stilts on 23/01/24 in the dark of the night with a tin fence and a tin roof on the roof of the house. He is a very dishonest person who is a threat to the wealth of others. Since Ram Tarua Rabi Das and our heirs died in different places in search of livelihood for a long time, it was not possible to get the name registration done. But there was no complication in the possession of the enjoyment.

When I inquired at the Union Land Office in 2022 to get the name registration done, it was found that the 21st Century Land was recorded in the name of the Deputy Commissioner of Moulvibazar under RS 41. After the matter was brought to light, a case was filed on 11/05/22 with Lakshmi Rani Ravi Das and other Owarishan as plaintiffs before the Moulvibazar Assistant Judge Court, Srimangal, making the Deputy Commissioner Moulvibazar the defendant. Case No. 90/22. On 06/02/23, the learned court issued a temporary injunction. He is seeking legal assistance to get justice.
