A victimized husband approached the Upazila Executive Officer in Jaintapur, Sylhet, to get his wife and children back. The victim applied to the Jaintapur Upazila Executive Officer yesterday (January 30) on Thursday.
The victim is Nazir Ahmed (52), son of Dhalai Mia of Haripur village, Fatepur union, No. 5 of the upazila.
In his written complaint, he mentioned that about 22 years ago, he got married to Monirun Nesa, daughter of the deceased Ahmed Ali of Majumdar Para village, Nijpat union, Jaintapur. Later, he became the father of two children and was leading a happy family life. But he never thought that the arranged family would fall apart like this. For unknown reasons, Monirun Nesa ran away with his two children two and a half months ago, saying he was going to his ancestral home. Despite repeated attempts to bring his wife, including a son and a daughter, back home, nothing has worked. On the contrary, he has been continuously insulted and threatened with divorce in obscene language.
In his complaint, he further mentioned that some of his wife’s relatives are trying to get their minor daughter Marjana Akter Liza alias Koli (16) married. Due to their mischief, the entire family is now in ruins due to his absence. Demanding a remedy for this, he filed a written complaint with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer on Thursday to get his wife and children back.
When Jaintapur Upazila Executive Officer George Mitra contacted Chakma on his mobile phone to find out the truth, he said, “I am in a meeting and will talk later.” However, the truth of the complaint has been found through the relevant branch of the office.
