A fish trader has died after being hit by a truck on the Habiganj-Lakhai road. The incident occurred on Wednesday (February 19) morning.
The deceased is Abdul Majid (55), son of the late Abdul Gafur of Bekiteka village in Lukra union of Habiganj Sadar upazila.
Locals said that Abdul Majid was preparing to catch fish in his own pond and take it to the market on Wednesday morning. At that time, a truck heading from Lakhai to Habiganj hit him while he was crossing the road. Abdul Majid was seriously injured. Later, locals rescued him in a seriously injured condition and brought him to Habiganj Sadar Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.
Police said that it was not possible to seize the vehicle involved in the accident. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Habiganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
