5-day book fair begins in Srimangal

A 5-day book fair has been inaugurated in Srimangal, Moulvibazar, on the occasion of the Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day on February 20.

On Thursday (February 20), Srimangal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Islam Uddin presided over the fair at the premises of the Srimangal Municipality Shaheed Minar and was inaugurated by Professor ABM Mokhlesur Rahman of Srimangal Government College.

Former professor of the Government College Mohammad Rafi Ahmed Chowdhury, Associate Professor Sudarshan Shil, Head of the Government College Bangla Department Mohammad Saiful Islam, writer Kayes Sami, journalist Kawsar Iqbal, Syed Sayed Ahmed, Syed Abuzafar Salauddin, Mizanur Rahman Alam, teacher Ikramul Kabir, recitation teacher Bikash Das Bappan, and others were present at the time.

Organized by the Upazila Administration and Srimangal Government College and in collaboration with Srimangal Municipality, Uttaran Pathak Chakra and Pathak Sangha, this book fair will be open to book lovers from 2 pm to 8 pm every day.

Upazila Executive Officer Md. Islam Uddin said, a five-day book fair has been organized in Srimangal to increase the enthusiasm of the general public towards reading books. We want the youth to be by our side in this event too.

Uttana Pathak Chakra and Pathak Sangha founder Md. Saiful Islam, professor of the Bengali department of the Government College, said that interesting books will be displayed and sold at the book fair. Those who could not go to the Ekushey Book Fair in Dhaka will also be able to collect their favorite books.

Several local and Dhaka publishers have taken up stalls at this fair.

Notably, there are a total of 14 stalls at the fair, including Granth Kutir and Shishu Granth Kutir, Chaitanya, Nova, Nagri, Babui, Rashtrachinta and Granthik, Sohaj Prakash, Panjeri, Shabdachash, Sahitya Kutir, Swapna 71 and Uttaran.
