A clash between two parties over tomtom passengers has taken place in Lakhai Upazila of Habiganj district. The clash was announced over a microphone. At least 50 people from both sides have been injured in this.
The clash took place on Tuesday (March 4) morning between the residents of Maijhati and Dairol in Singhagram of Lakhai Upazila.
Locals said that on Monday, just before Iftar, a scuffle broke out between driver Milon Mia of Dairol and passenger Touhid Talukder of Maijhati over tomtom (battery-powered auto-rickshaw) passengers in Bulla Bazar of Lakhai Upazila. At least 10 people were injured when people from both sides got involved in the clash.
Later, following this incident, people from both sides clashed with local weapons on Tuesday morning, announcing on the mosque’s microphone. The clash lasted for about two hours. At least fifty people from both sides were injured in this.
The injured have been sent to the local Lakhai Upazila Health Complex and Habiganj 250-bed Modern District Sadar Hospital.
Lakhai Police Station OC Bande Ali said that after receiving the information, the police went to the spot and brought the situation under control. Currently, the situation is calm.
