One person was killed in a clash between two parties in Kalia, Narail. Eight people, including two policemen, were injured in the incident. The incident took place in Silimpur village of Hamidpur union of the upazila on Saturday.
The deceased Hashim Molya (38) is a resident of Silimpur village of Hamidpur union. The injured are – two police members of Kalia police station Chandan Saha and Sajal and eight people including Kader Molya and his son Johnny Molya, Boni Molya, Ashiq, and Pony of Silimpur village. The joint forces have arrested two people in this incident.
According to police and local sources, there was a dispute between Thandu Molya’s faction of Silimpur village and Johnny Molya’s faction of the same village over dominance. On Friday afternoon, Johnny’s people threw Thandu out of the local Gazirhat market. Due to this, on Saturday around 11 am, people from Thandu went to Johnny’s house and attacked his people with country-made weapons. When they tried to stop the attack, eight people, including two members of the Kalia police station, were injured. Hasim, who was injured in the incident, died at Khulna Medical College Hospital in the afternoon while undergoing treatment. The rest were admitted to the Kalia Upazila Health Complex.
Meanwhile, in the morning, when the people of the Johnny Group who were attacked were preparing to counterattack, the joint forces arrested Siraj Molya (44) and Azizar Sheikh (55) of the Johnny Group in a raid. At that time, a one-shooter gun and 20 rounds of bullets were recovered from them.
In this regard, Kalia Police Station OC Rashidul Islam said that two people have been arrested in this incident along with a one-shooter gun and 20 rounds of bullets. Additional police and the army have been deployed in the area. The situation is now calm.
