Jaintapur mango trees in Sylhet are now in full bloom. Starting from homes to government and private educational institutions, these buds have spread in abundance on mango trees along the roads.
Locals said that due to the favorable weather this year, mango trees have started to bud before spring. However, every tree will fully bloom by the end of Magh.
In Bangladesh, a country of six seasons, the seasons change every two months. With this, the weather and nature of Bengal change. Thus, spring, known as the king of seasons, has invaded us. Its main sign is the appearance of new leaves on the trees. Along with that, every mango tree is full of buds. In the dry weather of Falgun and Chaitra, as far as the eye can see, there is only a combination of greenery. Along with this, there is the sweet smell of mango buds. So far, no natural disaster like the destruction of mango buds has been seen. Therefore, nature has adorned itself with more buds on the trees. Although hailstorms have struck in a few places.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Shamima Akhter told The Daily Morning Sun that mangoes are cultivated in the courtyards of various houses in the upazila. This time, mango trees have budded early due to the weather. If they are well cared for, the yield will be good.
She also said that Jaintapur Upazila is not suitable for commercial mango cultivation and no one has cultivated mango orchards or mangoes commercially. The Upazila Agriculture Office will provide good advice and support to those interested in commercial mango cultivation.
