A tea testing and quality training course has been inaugurated in Srimangal, Moulvibazar.
On Saturday (July 12), at 11:30 am, Bangladesh Tea Board Chairman Major General Sheikh Md. Sarwar Hossain (SUP, NDC, PSC) inaugurated the tea testing and quality training course at the tea testing room of BTRI. He joined the event virtually and auspiciously started the event.
At 10:30 am, Bangladesh Tea Board Chairman Major General Sheikh Md. Sarwar Hossain (SUP, NDC, PSC) inaugurated the 6-day tea-related training course at the board’s training center.
Dr. Md. Ismail Hossain, Director of BTRI, was present as special guests at the event, chaired by Dr. AKM Rafiqul Haque, Director of Project Development Unit of Bangladesh Tea Board, Md. Saiful Islam, Chief Operating Officer of Finlay Tea Company Tahsin Ahmed Chowdhur.
Md. Selim Reza, DAG of Ispahani Tea Company’s Zerin Tea Estate, and Shibli, General Manager (GM) of Baraura Tea Division, also spoke at the event.
Dr. Md. Abdul Aziz, Chief Scientific Officer of the Plant Science Department of BTRI, assisted in the event. After the tea tasting, the tea tasters evaluated the quality of the tea presented as satisfactory.
Incidentally, a total of 65 tea gardens from different parts of the country participated in this tea tasting session, which is being considered a unique initiative to improve the quality of the country’s tea industry.
