The police have recovered the bloody body of a youth from a paddy field in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet.

The body was recovered from a paddy field near a house in Ailakandi village of Osmaninagar upazila at around 12:30 pm today, Saturday (March 22).

The deceased youth is Makhon Mia (35), son of the deceased Mofiz Mia of Kurua village in Dayamir union of the upazila. It is known that he was currently living in Ailakandi village of Tajpur union.

It is known that Makhon Mia left his house around 11 pm on March 21 and did not return to his house. The next morning, at one stage of searching at various places, his cousin Fatik Mia suspected that he was the one who saw shoes and blood in the paddy field near the house in the afternoon and started searching for Makhon Mia. At one stage, he saw Makhon Mia’s bloodied body lying in the paddy field and informed the police. Later, the police reached the spot and recovered the body of the deceased and after preparing the post-mortem report, Osmaninagar Police Station took him into custody.

However, a police source said that the body of the deceased will be sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy on Sunday. No case has been filed with the police station till the time of writing this report.
