A four-year-old child was killed after being hit by a gas-powered auto-rickshaw (CNG) in Nabiganj Upazila Municipality area of Habiganj district.
The accident occurred at around 1 pm on Tuesday (April 1) in the Gandha Point area of the Municipality.
The deceased child is Maryam Begum (04), daughter of Tajul Islam of Sanghar village of Baniachong police station. She had been living in Gandha area with her family.
According to police and local sources, when Maryam Begum was playing, a CNG (Habiganj-Th 11-5845) heading towards Gumgumiya from Nabiganj reached Gandha point on the Nabiganj to Kaziganj Bazar regional road, when the child fell under the CNG. She was seriously injured. Later, when the locals rushed her to the Nabiganj Upazila Health Complex in a seriously injured condition, she collapsed and died on the way.
The truth of this matter has been confirmed by Nabiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kamal Hossain.
