The half-melted body of a man named Abdul Jalil (45) was found abandoned in a septic tank after 4 days of disappearance in Sylhet’s Osmaninagar.
The body of the deceased was recovered from an abandoned septic tank in Kadipur village of Tajpur union of the upazila on Wednesday (August 28) afternoon. Earlier, Abdul Jalil was missing since Sunday evening. Abdul Jalil is the son of deceased Zahir Ullya of Panch Para village in Uchmanpur Union of Upazila.
It is known that Abdul Jalil left home on Sunday afternoon with 1.5 lakh rupees to buy gold. There was no trace of him since that evening. At one stage, the relatives of the family made a general diary at the police station, and with the help of information technology, the police were able to recover the half-melted body of Abdul Jalil, the father of 5 children, in a sack on Wednesday afternoon.
Mahmuda Begum, the wife of the deceased, said that her husband Abdul Jalil took Tk 1.5 lakh with a businessman named Kamran of Vadera village to buy 4 loads of gold for Tk 3 lakh. Later on Sunday, after taking another one and a half lakh rupees from the house, there was no trace of Abdul Jalil.
Confirming the truth of the matter, the officer in charge of Osmaninagar police station Rasedul Haque said, initially it is believed to be a murder. Some people have been detained for questioning in this incident. A case is being filed in the police station on behalf of the deceased’s family.
