An elderly man was killed in a rival attack in Golapganj, Sylhet. He is Emran Fanu (55), son of the deceased Arab Ali of Kalijuri village of Mursabazar Union of the upazila.

It is learned that on March 22, a few people came to the house of Shahidul Islam after an argument in front of the Pubali Bank in Mursabazar. During this time, they attacked Shahidul Islam’s disabled elderly brother Emran Fanu and damaged his left eye. Shahidul Islam was also injured in the attack. Later, he was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and later to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a seriously injured condition. After being treated there for 9 days, he died last Tuesday night. His burial was completed today, Friday.

Golapganj Model Police Station OC Md. Moniruzzaman Molya said that the deceased’s sister Seli Begum has filed a murder case with the police station in this incident. The main accused in this case, Koyech, was arrested by the police from the Chittagong airport while he was fleeing abroad.
