A teenager committed suicide in Sylhet after being angry with her mother for preventing her from using her mobile phone.

The incident took place in the Sheikhghat area of ​​Sylhet metropolis on Sunday (April 6) morning.

The deceased teenager is Labiba Tanha (13), daughter of the late Mujibur Rahman of Sheikhghat area of ​​SMP Kotwali Police Station. She committed suicide by hanging herself with a telephone cord around her neck in an alley opposite a government colony in the area.

It is learned that Labiba’s mother stopped her from using her mobile phone on Saturday night. Later, she got angry and left the house. When she did not return home at one point, after much searching, she was found hanging with a telephone cord around her neck in an alley opposite a government colony in the morning. Upon receiving the news of the incident, the police reached the spot, recovered the body of the deceased and sent it to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The truth of this matter has been confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station Md. Ziaul Haque. He said, it is initially believed that the girl committed suicide. However, details will be known once the autopsy report is received.
