A boat worker died in a lightning strike in the Kushiara River in the area adjacent to the Fenchuganj Upazila Bazar in Sylhet.
The incident occurred at around 10:30 am today, Tuesday. The deceased is Jilan Mia, son of Nasim Mia of Baghmara Paschim Para area of the upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Fenchuganj Police Station Moniruzzaman Khan confirmed the matter. He said that Jilan Mia went out to drive a boat in the river as usual. At that time, there was a sudden lightning strike along with the rain and Jilan Mia died on the spot. He also said that further legal action is under process.
