A farmer died in a lightning strike in Dirai, Sunamganj while collecting paddy straw in front of his house.
The incident took place in Sechni village of Rafinagar union of the upazila on Wednesday (April 23) evening.
The deceased in the lightning strike is Abu Ayub (20), son of Iqbal Hossain of Sechni village. In addition, the elder brother of the deceased, Oliur, and Monirul (35), son of Kabil Mia of the same village, were injured in the lightning strike.
The deceased’s cousin, Sujan Mia, said that we were working to collect paddy straw in front of our house. At that time, lightning suddenly struck. Later, the locals took the injured to the village doctor in Bangla Bazar, who declared Abu Ayub dead.
Upazila Executive Officer Sanjeeb Sarkar confirmed the truth of the incident.
