A stone worker is missing after a boat capsized in a storm from the Sreepur stone quarry area near the Jaintapur border in Sylhet.

The missing worker has been identified as Jewel Ahmed Dilu (28). He is the son of the deceased Abdus Salam of Rupcheng village under Nijpat union of the upazila.

According to local sources, he went by boat to the Indian border area of ​​Sreepur stone quarry at 9 pm on Friday (April 25). At that time, he was returning with a boat full of stones with another worker named Rubel near pillar no. 1280 when the boat capsized in a storm.

At that time, Rubel swam ashore and called Dilu, who responded to his call twice. Later, he did not respond to the third call. The next day, Saturday morning, Rubel went to look for Dilu near the border pillar No. 1280 and found his used button mobile lying there.

Dilu’s family members did not find any trace of him till Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, Dilu’s relatives were staying in the Sreepur Quarry area in search of him.

Major Md. Nurul Huda, Deputy Commander of Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB), said that the matter of the missing worker had come to the BGB locally. He confirmed that necessary steps are being taken to investigate the disappearance.
