A condolence meeting and prayer meeting have been held in memory of Ikram Chowdhury, an official of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Security Coordinator of Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and President of Pir Mohalla Prabhati Sangha.

The condolence meeting and prayer meeting were organized at Kabi Nazrul Memorial School in Pir Mohalla of the city on Friday (May 2) evening with the initiative of Pir Mohalla Prabhati Sangha and in cooperation with the Pir Mohalla Panchayat Committee.

The speakers at the condolence meeting said that Ikram Chowdhury was a hardworking and dedicated person. He devotedly performed his duties of BCB as well as engaged himself in social development activities and serving the people. He was a beloved person to all of us. The speakers said that this always smiling and friendly person left us prematurely. He had much more to give to society and the country. He will live among us forever.

The condolence meeting was moderated by Pir Mohalla Probhati Sangha General Secretary Saliqur Rahman, and the guests who spoke at the condolence meeting were Sylhet Judge Court’s Najir and Probhati Sangha advisor Kamaluddin, Pir Mohalla Panchayat Committee General Secretary Nazim Uddin, Probhati Sangha advisor Sohrab Hossain, Wes Ahmed Maulana Nazrul Islam, Ataur Rahman and Atiqur Rahman, Majumdari Panchayat Committee President Peer Ahmed, General Secretary Bazlur Rahman Babul, Committee member and prominent politician Shamim Majumder, Committee member and organizer Nahid Ahmed, Tarang and Social Welfare Organization President Ehia Ahmed, Pir Mohalla Panchayat Committee Treasurer and elder brother of the deceased Imran Chowdhury, Panchayat Committee Joint General Secretary Makhlisur Rahman, Joint General Secretary Mahtab Ahmed Khokon. Pir Mohalla Prabhati Sangha Senior Vice President Arman Ullah, Vice President Dinar Hussain, Joint General Secretary Joynal Abedin, Organizing Secretary Rumel Ahmed, Sports Secretary Abul Majumder, Assistant Sports Secretary Atiqur Rahman, Office Secretary Jamil Ahmed, Amin Ahmed, Tanvir Islam, Hridoy Ahmed and others were present. At the end of the condolence meeting, Imam and Khatib of Pir Mohalla Jame Mosque Mufti Abdul Basit led a special prayer seeking forgiveness for the departed soul. Maulana Zakaria recited from the Holy Quran at the beginning of the meeting.

Pir Mohalla Panchayat Committee President and Prabhati Sangha Chief Advisor Abul Bashar Hossain and Nasrullah Waqf Trust Motawalli and Prabhati Sangha Advisor Mizanur Rahman provided overall support in the program.
